Errands to run. Happy Friday. This week's Friday Five.
Five posts that touched a nerve
The Friday Five
I should be able to ask the GenAI a question
I should be able to ask (the system), what is the recent average utilization of the meeting rooms in the sites that were renovated the last five years, for our highest performing female senior leaders? - Phil Kirschner
Report, Predictive, Prescriptive, Autonomous. Our data journey has barely begun. Dashboards / Smashboards. Rethink, anticipate, and tell me in advance. Technology is never the gate to change

Corridor of Human interaction
In design and architecture, we spend so much time thinking about the rooms but not the corridors. And so much happens in those corridors, and so I wonder, what is the corridor of human interaction, if it's only digital? - Michelle Ossmann, PhD, MSN
Digital interactions will continue to be an increasing percentage of our interaction, but they are not a replacement for real time together in person. The trick is to get as many processes moved to digital async, so the time together can be used to build trust, strengthen relationships, get to better know the people you're working with, what makes them tick, what makes them smile, what get's them up in the morning. Thanks again Michelle, so enjoyed learning about the roots and depth of hospitality in human tradition and connection

The Father of Telecommuting
There were always more people available who could do it than were allowed to do it by their management. And that's always been the case - Jack (John) M Nilles
Development of Policy on the Telecommunications-Transportation Tradeoff
Trading communications for commuting, to the benefit of the company, employees, and the environment in which they live. And even after the benefits we clearly demonstrated in research and pilot projects, cultural resistance to change remains the biggest barrier to trial, even 50 years later.
Please join me in welcoming Jack Nilles to Work 20XX

LinkedIn, a Digital Corridor?
W And we have superfans, which is very cool. - Eric Law
When the story resonates to the point of creating super fans, and a rooting section, that's goodness. Active community interest and enthusiasm. Of course, what's not to love, keeping all that wood for being burned or buried.

Adaptability requires ears and eyes and a little bit of humility
Your people have better proximity to customers than you have as a leader. So if they're saying 'Here’s something that needs to change', don't see them as a pain in the ass, see them as the canary in the coal mine that's about to save your life. - Dominic Price
In a world filled with noise, it's never been more important to focus on the sources of signal, trusted filters, paths to the root cause. Listen actively. The answers are all around us if we listen. I have a Post-It note on one my monitors to remind me, 'Shut up and listen'
